1. Insert the battery into the battery compartment and ensure it is seated properly.

2. After closing the battery cover, unfold the probe to 90 or 180 degrees.

3. Toggle the on/off switch to the "on" position, and allow a couple of seconds for the thermometer to turn on as there is a slight delay for power cycling.

4. Insert the probe into the thickest part of the meat.
