1. Insert the battery into the battery compartment and ensure it is seated properly ("+" facing up).

2. While inside the battery compartment, determine the temperature mode you would like to use (Fahrenheit or Celsius) and adjust the small black slide switch to F or C.

3. Close the battery cover and slide the stainless steel sheath off the probe.

4. Press the on/off button to power the unit on.
