How to replace the battery
The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be replaced when the small battery icon appears in the lower-right corner of the display. Replace the battery with a 1.5V LR41 silver oxide or AG3 alkaline battery (or equivalent.)
1. Pull the battery cover away from the unit
2. Pull out the battery holder. Do not pull more than 1 inch from the thermometer as it may cause damage.
3. Use a pin or the end of a paper clip to remove the old battery and add a new battery.
4. Slide the battery holder back into the thermometer body and place the cap back on the end.

Taking an Axillary Temperature (under the arm)
Wipe the underarm with a dry towel and place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin with the thermometer perpendicular to the body. Position the arm across the chest so the probe tip is well covered by the arm. Approximate measuring time: 2~3 minutes
Note: Axillary temperatures are generally 1.0°F (0.5°C) lower than oral readings.

Taking a Rectal Temperature
Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the probe cover. Gently insert the probe into the rectum (a maximum 1/2 inch.) Approximate measuring time: 1 minute
Note: Rectal temperatures are generally 1.0°F (0.5°C) higher than oral readings.
